Why Choose cygnets classes?
Small classes. Real teachers. A proper start.
We keep class sizes strictly limited — not as a marketing line, but because it genuinely changes what's possible. Your child gets individual attention, teachers notice when something clicks or when a child needs a moment, and the group develops real friendships over the course of a term.
This isn't a drop-in activity. It's the beginning of something.
YOUR FIRST STEP
Try a taster class — no commitment needed.
We know signing up for something new takes a leap of faith. That's why we invite every new family to a introductory session first. Come and see the studio, meet Roberta and Jenny, and let your little one have a go. If they love it — and they usually do — you can book into the next block from there.
Spaces are limited. If you'd like to reserve a spot, tap below or call us on 07481 25 30 44.
what happens next?
Once our dancers graduate from their Cygnets classes they move into the Isle of Wight Ballet Classes.
Progression and consistency are important and we are thrilled to let you know that Isle of Wight Ballet offer both of these. Every Cygnet dancer is invited to continue their dancing journey onto the next level of classes. Get in touch with us to find out more.
Cygnets Children's Ballet - Where it All Begins

Saturday morning ballet classes in Shanklin for ages 3–7, designed by professional dancers and rooted in the magic of Swan Lake.
What is Cygnets?
Cygnets is our early years ballet programme at Regent Creative Studios — a warm, nurturing introduction to classical ballet for children aged 3 to 7. Classes are led by professional dancers trained to work with young children, kept deliberately small, and built around a single magical theme each term. This term, we're stepping into the world of Swan Lake.
Meet the Teachers
Your child will be in exceptional hands.
Cygnets is led by Roberta McClelland-Branson and Jenny Trafford — both professional ballet dancers with careers on international stages, and both mums themselves. They've come home to the Isle of Wight to teach the next generation, bringing world-class training together with the kind of patience and warmth that only comes from truly understanding young children — in the studio and at home.
As experienced educators in early years development, they know that the first experience of ballet shapes everything that follows. Every class is designed to feel safe, joyful, and full of wonder — because Roberta and Jenny would settle for nothing less for their own children, and they won't settle for less for yours.

Frequently asked questions
What happens after my child completes this program?
Our Foundation and Extension levels are designed to spark a lifelong love for dance. Once a dancer has completed this program and reached the required age or technical level (usually from age 8+), they are warmly encouraged to apply for the Isle of Wight Ballet Program. This is our high-level training pathway for dedicated young dancers looking to further their classical training.
Why a block of classes rather than a drop in?
Ballet is a discipline that thrives on consistency. By committing to a block of classes, your child benefits from:
Progressive Learning: Each week builds on the last, helping them develop muscle memory and master new steps.
Social Confidence: Staying with the same group of friends helps children feel safe and encouraged to express themselves.
The Full Story: Our themed terms are designed as a journey. Completing the block ensures they experience the full magic of the 'Swan Lake' storytelling.
What should my child wear to class?
For the Introductory Lesson, please don’t feel you need to buy a full uniform!
Clothing: Any comfortable clothing they can move freely in (such as leggings/shorts and a fitted t-shirt) or any existing dancewear you may already have.
Footwear: If you don't have ballet shoes yet, or bare feet are perfectly fine for the first session.
Hair: Please ensure hair is tied back neatly off the face (a bun is great, but a ponytail or plait works too!).
Is there someone I can contact to find out more?
Of course! Please send us an email- hello@regentcreative.co.uk, message us 07481 25 30 44 or contact us via our socials @wightballet
Can my son join in?
Absolutely! We love having boys in our classes. Ballet is a fantastic way for all children to build strength, coordination, and confidence. Our 'Swan Lake' theme is all about storytelling and movement, which every young dancer can enjoy.
