The Ballet Associates Program is for talented young dancers, generally aged 8 to 17, with a strong passion for classical ballet and aspirations for a dance career.
It offers high-standard classical instruction at a pre-vocational level, complementing existing training and providing valuable insight into the demands of elite dance education.

High-Level Training
Dancers will receive intensive classical ballet training, focusing on technique, artistry, and musicality, guided by experienced teachers in their field.
Complementary Learning
The program is designed to enhance, rather than replace, a student's current ballet school training, providing an additional layer of specialised instruction.
Vocational Preparation
Students will gain a deeper understanding of what is required for a career in dance, with exposure to teaching staff whom have trained dancers at full-time vocational programs whom have gone on to dance professionally throughout the world.
Nurturing Environment
The program aims to cultivate freedom of expression and confidence in a holistic manner, allowing students to train alongside other talented individuals who share similar aspirations.
Structured Sessions
Classes take place weekly over 7-8 weeks per term, with specific instruction in classical ballet, coaching, or repertoire. Classes may be streamed by age and ability.
Assessment and Progression
Students will be assessed to track their progress and provide guidance for their continued development in dance.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Maximum of 10 students for Junior and Middle levels and 8 students for Senior level. Dancers will be placed in a group according to their ability level.
Classes are between 1.5-2hrs.

What are the application requirements?
All applicants fill in an expression of interest form. A photograph of your dancer and information about any training they may have to date will be included. We will be in touch soon after with any further questions.
My child is not currently connected to a dance school, can they still apply?
Of course, we welcome all dancers (or yet to become dancers) as we accept applicants based on their potential for dance.
Which level would my dancer be in?
There are three level at WBA (Wight Ballet Associates) and dancers will be grouped in similar ability levels. Junior students are studying approximately Grades 2-3 RAD, Middle students are studying approximately Grades 4-6 RAD and Senior students are of Intermediate level and above.
Will there be a uniform?
As dance is both a creative and visual art we believe it is important for our dancers to dress proudly and with confidence. On successful entry, each dancer will receive their uniform basics as part of your welcome pack and annual registration.
Who will be teaching the classes?
Jenny Trafford will be taking the classes throughout 2025/2026. She has over 25 years teaching experience and has trained many dancers whom have successfully auditioned for professional ballet schools and companies in both Australia, UK, Europe and the US. She is passionate about getting the best results and potential from each dancer no matter where their journey will take them!
